The history of New Balance started in 1906, and as often happens, the direction of the company was not oriented toward the production of high level sneakers. William J. Riley, a 33 years old english immigrant, founded the New Balance Arch Support Company in Boston, which initially was involved in the production of ergonomic plantars able to increase the fit comfort. It was only in 1961 when Riley was partnering with Arthur Hall already for a long time that the first sporting shoe model "Trackster," a shoe that guaranteed comfort, grip and performance at the highest level. The Trackster brought to New Balance the success in the field of innovative shoes production. Until 1972 the company grew through the oldest and safest form of advertising, the word. But it wasn't enough. Thus the current president Jim Davis had the intuition to bring the brand to different types of sports, the brand was worn for the first time in the Boston Marathon. At that time New balance produced about 30 pairs of shoes a day thanks to the explosion of the running world in the United States and through shrewd advertising campaigns, New Balance in a few years became a worldwide colossus. Currently the company is guided by Robert T. DeMartini, previously at the helm of Procter & Gamble and Gillette.
